Navigation
The following aids make it easy to use WebGenesis:
- References and hyperlinks to subentries in the presentation frame.
-
The header bar in the presentation frame located at the top margin
of all WebGenesis pages:
- in the directory path you can see the current hierachical level. By selecting a name in the path you can jump directly to the corresponding entry
- with the arrow buttons on the right you can either go back and forth in the same level, or go up to the directory above.
-
The index frame (normally located on the left, depending on your
installation) contains references as starting points to relevant pages and
helpful options for the work with WebGenesis:
-
What's new? shows all entries that have been added or
changed in the last 14 days. In the text box you can change
the number of days and press return to see the entries of the last x
days.
The link New Window opens a separate browser-window showing the contents of What's new?. Selecting the title of an entry opens the corresponding page in the presentation frame of the old window. The separate window with the contents overview of What's new? remains.
- Search brings you to the Specific Search page.
-
The Navigator opens in a new window. Three directory levels of
WebGenesis entries are shown.
Selecting the icon in front of an entry, will show again three levels beginning with the selected one:
All entries in the Navigator are hyperlinks, which is helpful for fast navigation. To see the contents of an entry in the presentation frame you only need to click on the corresponding title (this is only possible, if you have the corresponding access rights for the selected entry). If you click on the icon in front of an entry in the presentation frame it will open the navigator. It shows three levels of entries under the clicked entry (that's not the case for all WebGenesis installations).
As in the presentation frame there is a header bar in the Navigator.
-
Entry ID:
Each entry has a unique entry ID. It shows up as the last part of the URL in the status bar of your browser, when pointing your mouse at a hyperlink.Note for authors:
If you are logged in, the entry ID is shown behind every title in the Navigator:Note for advanced users:
Entries can be called up directly in the address bar of your browser:-
http://.../servlet/is/<entry number>
(e.g. http://genesis.iitb.fhg.de/servlet/is/24)
In this case only the presentation frame is shown.
Looking at the head bar you can find an arrow symbol pointing left:
Selecting the arrow loads the index frame. -
http://.../?<entry number>
(e.g. http://genesis.iitb.fhg.de/?24)
In this case the the presentation and the index frame are shown.
-
http://.../servlet/is/<entry number>
(e.g. http://genesis.iitb.fhg.de/servlet/is/24)
-
